what's that, like an hour and a half from little rock? the way to go to my mom's house is about 11 hours, and only goes as far north as memphis, so i'd just take the same route and drive through little rock on 30. that might work.

we still have to see, though, just so you know. we were planning to do an overseas vacation for our anniversary this year, since we didn't really do much last year; and that's only about a month away. but at ~$17/night, that might be doable. we'll talk it over more.

GUYS!!

Alright, so after checking out the link that Gabby sent for Murfreesboro, it looks pretty cool. I think there would be something for all of us. A quick summary if you guys haven't checked it out--water park through Labor Day, interpretive programs (rangers show us stuff), diamond digging, and then a Wildlife Observation Blind which is a place we can hike to and then take pictures of animals in their natuaral habitat and stuff. Then there are also 2 different trails to walk on and stuff.

It is $17.05 a night and 8 people per site, two tents per site. (So we will probably need 2 sites). The only catch when I asked the alchol policy, she said it was a dry county. (Now, to me that means we can't buy alcohol there). Chris, that means you are just going to have to drink from an unmarked cup.

Mark and I are planning to go on the 2nd and leave on the 7th. It's about an hour north of Texarkana so it's about a 7 hour drive for us. TobBy, I looked it up for you and it said 13 hours, but it had you go north through Nashville then back south so I don't know if there is a shorter route or not.

What do you guys think? We may find diamonds and end up rich! If this is something that you guys think you would want to do...let me know, I can calculate costs to participate in activities and come up with a ballpark per person. One thing I do need to know for sure is what days everyone will want to come. I'm sure not all of you can stay that whole time, so just let me know, because that will affect how much it costs.

Sorry guys,

I have to get used to this regular posting thing. Star, as for kids it doesn't bother me. I love kids and I think they would love it. Also, I used to teach swimming lessons, so swimming with them may be fun. Just a thought too...usually they have life jackets in the boats, so Hunter might really like it (I don't know). The others are a little young, but as long as we all watch them I think it would be cool. Heck, we are a freakin' village so, really it is just up to you parents what you want to do...if you want a week/weekend away...then hit up grandmas and grandpas...if not, bring them a long. I've been looking at sites with playgrounds too in case you guys did decide to bring the kids. :)

There are a lot of campgrounds in our area so it I'm still searching. I have all your suggestions on my list and then a few more that I've found or people at my work have recommended. I'm trying to find places that have both hiking stuff and swimming...maybe cave tours or some other activity where everyone can be happy. Plus a place that isn't too expensive.

Anyway, TobBy, I'll try to move my search a little more South so that you guys won't have so long to drive. I'll try to keep it in Ark. unless there is just a place too good to be true in MO. Anyway, I know it is a ways away, but I'm getting excited!

And Ed, you have totally made my day! I need an updated picture of you carving a whistle out of random branches. :)

Well if kids are included, I'm still up for going then. Either way at least one or both Pooh and I will go. The baby will be 5 months old or a little more, and Hunter will be 5. Chances are if water's involved for safety's sake I will keep them away from water activities like boats or something like that, we may splash in the swimming area or something, but that would be the only hitch to that.

if kids are included, how are any of us going to be able to go...?

I guess I'll be the dumb one that needs an obvious answer. Are we including kiddo's in this deal? If so then cool, or cool either way really, I just needed to know for planning sake on me and Pooh's side. Chances are if kids aren't really being planned on, then I'll prolley stay behind with the tater tots and send Pooh along so he and Edge can let everyone else sweat to death while they go get milk shakes again. ;) Well hey--at least it's not July. :)

I think I might try on my end to see if I can go as well. I got some R&R days I can use.

We'll probably be driving. La should have her new car by then, so we'll probably want to shake it down on a long road trip like this. Arkansas is only about 11 hours away, and as long as we're staying more than a couple of days, it's all good.

Of course, you start talking Minnesota, and that's a different story... :)

Okay...well maybe I can look up these places and come up with a list and their attractions (I'm partial to water, but I'm flexible). Then we can take a vote. La and TobBy, you are the farthest away so are you thinking you may drive, fly? I want to be considerate to you guys too.

And Chains, as far as I am concerned the more the marrier. I think it will be a good time. And don't worry Del, we all know what your priorities are. Again, I'll try and put together cost per person. Do we know how long we would like to go, because that will make a difference. I guess it depends on how long it takes us to get there too.

Anyway...if any of you have any more ideas let me know. So far it looks like we have Star and Pooh, Chains, Edge, Del and Dre, I've talked to Nil and Muse, and then Mark and me...and possibly Quade and La. I'm so excited!!!

I have one suggestion really, I don't know a whole lot about campgrounds, well, maybe two suggestions. One is Mufreesboro State Park here in Arkansas, I think it's more Northern part of the state maybe?? I'm not really sure, but they have campgrounds there and the main attraction is digging for diamonds and other precious gems. I don't know about lakes or anything like that.
The other suggestion is White Rock State Park. But mostly the attraction to that is bluffs and hiking and what not, no lakes around really, mountains and the Ozarks mostly. We can definitley do something else and my feelings wouldn't be hurt about it. I just wasn't sure if you guys had heard about either one of these places here in Arkansas.
